Math game shows can be played in small groups or as a whole class. I like to use them as a whole class because they allow me to assess my students’ understanding of the concepts we are reviewing. How to Play Math Game Shows
To play math game shows, you need a game board with five categories. Each category should have five questions, each worth different points depending on their difficulty. I like to start with lower-point-value questions and increase the point value as the categories get more difficult.

Each is focused on one area of content: multiplication, division, fractions, elapsed time, place value, measurement, data analysis, rounding, and geometry. This is an effective way to determine student mastery by math skill area.
To play, create teams of students competing against each other to answer math questions. The first team to buzz in with the correct answer gets the chance to answer the question and earn points.
If the team gets the question wrong, the other team can steal the points by providing the correct answer. The first team to reach the point value you decide on wins the game! You can also play until all of the questions have been answered. This is a great way to ensure that all your students have a chance to participate in the game.
