August is coming and these back to school resources that you can use right away will make that hectic time much easier! Are you overwhelmed by all the things you need to gather, make, or buy for back to school? There just isn’t enough time during the first few weeks of school to get everything going that you want for your new school year. The demands on teachers at back to school time is off the charts. That’s why I count on these must-have resources to be quick and easy. I know I’m going to be so happy and relieved that I have them during this crazy busy time of year.
You will be able to type in your school and classroom information quickly and impress those parents on back to school night. I talk more about making a great first impression here.
Cut out the time-consuming task of writing I Can Statements during the school year. Eye-catching and ready to go 8” x 8” poster sized charts will complement most classroom décor!
Love that these AR Clip Charts coordinate with the I Can Statements! Your students will be able to keep up with their points easily with this cute visual!
Accountable talk is a game changer in the classroom but getting younger students to have real discussions takes time and practice. These accountable talk question stems will get them on track really fast! Here’s how I implemented them in my classroom.
I LOVE – LOVE – LOVE having my students set academic goals! They get so excited and look forward to graphing their progress. When I present them with these adorable certificates, they are beaming! This post talks about goal setting in the classroom.
Learning about Carol Dweck’s groundbreaking research into growth versus fixed mindset was a big game changer for me. Read this post where I talk about her book and this resource that makes it so easy to help kiddos learn about real people and growth mindset!
Summer slide is a real thing and our students need a refresher when they come back to school BEFORE we start new, much harder standards. This set of math review sheets will be the perfect activity during the first week of school. Just print and go! Easy peasy! Read about how I use it in my classroom during the first weeks of school.
No matter what grade you teach – place value is usually one of the first standards that you will teach. Since it comes right after that summer slide – it can be challenging to get your students engaged in your instruction and activities. These Place Value math centers are made just for this purpose! There are 5 different matching activities that will keep your students challenged and engaged. When they start needing more challenge – teach them how to use error analysis for a deeper, more conceptual understanding. I love error analysis and I explain why in this post.
When teaching grammar skills – nouns are always my starting point. One thing I noticed with my students is that there is no one and done – they need repeated practice throughout the school year. This game is perfect for literacy centers and can be put in your rotation periodically throughout the school year. Read why I love this option here. Giving students practice with correct use of nouns in really good sentence writing will build great writers!
